Direct File-Sharing in Linux using SFTP

Potential Problem

If you’re trying to connect and nothing is happening (eg. it times out) in FileZilla, you likely have a firewall enabled on the PC running the SSH server that is blocking access. You can either disable the firewall while you’re transferring files or provide a rule that allows access to SSH or port 22. Whichever route you choose to take, I recommend re-enabling the firewall and removing the rule to allow access to SSH/port 22 when you’re done. There’s no reason to leave access to port 22 unless you’re using it for other purposes, in which case you’d already have it open anyway.
